Notes FAQ Banner Advertising

The Notes FAQ gets over 30 thousand unique user hits per month with over 150 thousand page views. Most web sites charge from $20 to $70 per thousand impressions (CPM), so these rates are extremely competitive.

There are four types of advertising space available on the Notes FAQ web site:

1) Home page ($250/month)
This advertisement is placed at the top of the main Notes FAQ web page. Your advertisement will be the only advertisement which is shown on this page.

2) Search page ($200/month)
This advertisement is placed at the top of the search page. Your advertisement will be the only advertisement which is shown on this page.

3) Category/Index advertisement ($125/month)
This advertisement is placed at the top of categories/indices to the What's New, Notes 3, 4, 4.5, and 4.6 categories. It can be shared by up to 3 other companies.

4) Document page advertisement ($100/month)
This advertisement is placed at the top of all documents (not the home, search, or index pages). It can be shared with up to 7 other companies.

For options (3) and (4), JavaScript will be used to display the banners randomly.
For options (1) and (2), the GIF and link will be hardcoded into the page since there is only one ad on the page.
All banners must be supplied as a GIF with a size of 468x60 and can have a file size of no more than 50KBytes. The 468x60 size is a standard size used by PCWeek, GameCenter, Yahoo, Excite, and NetCenter.
The GIF will be kept on your site and the link will jump to a web page that you specify so that you can track the hits; you can track the number of page impressions by the number of times the GIF is downloaded.

There are discounts if you book multiple ad categories or if you commit to at least 3 months. Payments for banner ads must be received a week before the ad is scheduled to run. Advertisers who have reserved a specific ad have right of first renewal if you want their ad after their current reservation is complete.

If you'd like to reserve advertising or see the hit analysis for the FAQ, please [email] contact the FAQ maintainer. Ad reservation status is also online.
