From Alex Berkov: Last week I purchased (and later returned) a pair of Manik taiilight guards. Just wanted to post my experience. They really did not fit very well. The tabs which were welded on were crooked and required extensive bending and twisting to align with the mounting positions. I have to wonder if they even use a jig when they weld these things. The mounting does require that you drill into light cluster to attach a bracket (I did not during my preliminary install). This bracket also needs to be rebent and scratches the lenses after install. The best thing to do is maybe take of Manik's mounting tabs and make your own and weld me on. I didn't feel like going through the trouble. I will wait for Go Rhino or Waag to see of their guards are a better fit. From Vernon Lew: Just installed the Manik tail light guards. There was an earlier post saying that Maniks don't fit and suggested making custom brackets and welding them on. I didn't have any problems. Maybe I got a later design. The attached mounting brackets are pretty flexible. You can easily bend them. Remove the tail light assembly and adjust the rear brackets first so they are flush with the assembly. Then bend the bottom bracket so that the guard is positioned the way you want (close to the body or far). I used a drill to make the two holes to mount the bottom bracket. Self-tapping screws are supplied but I can never get them to go in straight. The screws seal the assembly well. Even though the three brackets are flexible, when bolted down, the guard is very rigidly held in place. I left for a second and returned to see my 35lb son hanging on the right tail light guard climbing upwards (he is always helping me) . The guard stayed securely in place even after supporting his full weight. Looks slightly "add-on" but I think they definitely make the ML look less "minivan." Other ML owners seem to like it. Another co-worker of mine told me that my ML now looks like a minivan with tail light guards (He's a macho Wrangler guy with a B.O. problem).
