Success

I have the early 1998 ML 320 for which the replacement Crankshaft position sensor is the same as the original. When I replaced it the second time I decided to order the improved part which fits later models and I would do whatever it takes to get it wired. As it turned out, all I had to do was shave off the raised "keys" on the connector end of the sensor ( I used a sharp carpenter's chisel) and my harness connector fit just fine. The retainer clips have nothing to grab in this fix so I used a little Permatex black silicon to hold things together. I don't know yet if that was a mistake as the new improved sensor is doing fine about 40 K miles down the line. This site has helped a lot--Thanks, Ken
